Weather data
A large number of automatic weather stations has been implemented in the frame of the BIOTA AFRICA project by the Namibian National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) and the Group "Biodiversity, Evolution and Ecology" (BEE) of the University of Hamburg. The website offers hourly updates of data and graphs of a large number of weather parameters.

Exploitation of resources

Biodiversity is changing in many ways. In many cases the change of biodiversity is only a side effect of the (over-) exploitation of other resources like groundwater or mineral resources. Mining activities rapidly increased, during the past few years, due to the global need for metals and other mineral resources. For example, in Namibia a new uranium mine has been established within the Namib Naukluft National Park.
