Weather data
A large number of automatic weather stations has been implemented in the frame of the BIOTA AFRICA project by the Namibian National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) and the Group "Biodiversity, Evolution and Ecology" (BEE) of the University of Hamburg. The website offers hourly updates of data and graphs of a large number of weather parameters.

Soil science

Soil analyses in the project comprise standardised soil survey of the biodiversity observatories as well as functional and process based investigations with focus on water and nutrients on different scales.

The available web database provides soil inventory data for all observatories listed below. For each observatory Box-Whisker Plots for selected soil properties derived from 20-25 soil profiles gives an overview about the parametric pedodiversity on the observatory. Each profile is documented with profile and site photos as well as selected lab analyses and classification by WRB (1998). Results of classification are summarized in soil distribution map for each observatory.
