Abstract The biodiversity data nodes are centres of acquisition, digitization, exchange and analysis of biodiversity data within the African partner countries. They are integrated in collection and research institutions, supplied with hardware, database solutions and training and serve the effective use of biodiversity data by facilitating access and exchange of primary biodiversity data from collections and observations. An overview and examples are shown for the different data nodes, for data exchange within BIOTA and beyond and for the data flow from the data acquisition event to the scientific analysis and application.
