Project description

To ensure the continuation of monitoring of Kakamega Forest, and attend to the several collections (medicinal plants, herbarium, ex-situ conservation in Botanical Garden) we have to build up the scientific infrastructure and to support our counterparts. Training and education will support the staff for the herbarium and Botanical Garden. A PostDoc position at the University of Maseno is required for ex-situ conservation programs on diversity of Kakamega Forest at Maseno Botanical Garden (WP 4).Two PhD students from Kenya should work in the project. One of them dealing with ferns should be integrated into the workpackage 1 and financed by the BIOTA project. The other should be financed by the KAAD and work on bryophytes.
