Weather data
A large number of automatic weather stations has been implemented in the frame of the BIOTA AFRICA project by the Namibian National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) and the Group "Biodiversity, Evolution and Ecology" (BEE) of the University of Hamburg. The website offers hourly updates of data and graphs of a large number of weather parameters.

 Project description

Besides the diversity patterns of various taxa, the distribution and ecological condition of habitats and ecosystems is also of high importance for options of biodiversity use and conservation. Fragmentation and anthropogenic degradation of habitats are among the major causes of global biodiversity loss.
The present state of such ecosystem properties like integrity and connectivity, and their dynamics in time and space are in the focus of this work package. The aim is a systematic and comparative study of several Guineo-Sudanian forest-savanna mosaics which will provide synoptic knowledge on landscape metrics and result in options for the conservation of forest biodiversity and sustainable land use.
