A large number of automatic weather stations has been implemented in the frame of the BIOTA AFRICA project by the Namibian National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) and the Group "Biodiversity, Evolution and Ecology" (BEE) of the University of Hamburg. The website offers hourly updates of data and graphs of a large number of weather parameters.

BIOTA Maroc - Contact
The BIOTA AFRICA network aims at measuring and understanding the change of biodiversity in order to establish a robust and holistic foundation for the definition and implementation of sustainable use and conservation of biodiversity on the African continent.
BIOTA Maroc thus is part of a continental network of observatories across Africa and contributes at this scale to improve knowledge on biodiversity mechanisms on African mountain ecosystems. The project is in close partnership with GLOWA-IMPETUS, an integrative watershed study covering the same zone.
Working in a mountain ecosystem on the fringe of the Saharan desert, desertification is a major issue for BIOTA Maroc. In this context we participate in the European Desert*Net network and aim to cooperate with ROSELT-OSS, a circum-Saharan monitoring scheme. In Morocco, we initiate a cooperation with the UNDP project "Projet de Conservation de la Biodiversité par la Transhumance dans le Versant sud du Haut Atlas" (CBTHA). |
